Handpicked from the early spring flush of small-leaf tea bushes grown at high altitudes in Wuyishan’s Xingcun region, this Jin Jun Mei black tea embodies the elegance and purity of one of China's most prestigious red teas. Grown in the misty private gardens of Wuyishan, where mountain air, filtered light, and mineral-rich soil nurture exceptional leaf quality, this tea captures the essence of traditional craftsmanship and terroir.
Crafted using the orthodox Lapsang Souchong technique—naturally withered and gently oxidized without smoke—this Jin Jun Mei yields a brilliant golden-red liquor that is floral, smooth, and naturally sweet.
What sets Jin Jun Mei apart from traditional Lapsang Souchong lies in the leaf material and style: while both teas originate from the same region and processing method, Jin Jun Mei is made exclusively from tender spring buds, resulting in a more delicate texture and refined flavor. In contrast, classic Zhengshan Xiaozhong (Lapsang Souchong) typically uses mature leaves and may include smoked processing, giving it a bolder, more rustic character. Jin Jun Mei is lighter, more nuanced, and considered a premium expression of Wuyi black tea.
The dry leaves of this tea are slim and tightly rolled, bronze-black with subtle golden fuzz, showing the fine texture of early spring buds from 40–50 year-old small arbor bushes.
Upon brewing, the tea offers a bright, crystal-clear liquor with a soft halo. The aroma is rich with lingering floral notes, and the taste is round, mellow, and softly sweet, leaving a pleasant return sweetness in the throat. The signature high mountain character (gaoshan yun) comes through clearly—clean, refreshing, and elegant.
This tea is ideal for those who seek a smooth and balanced black tea without bitterness. It’s well-suited for mindful sipping, afternoon moments, or pairing with light desserts.
