About This Tea
Crafted from wild-grown mountain tea leaves, this signature black tea blends traditional craftsmanship with a low-temperature fermentation method unique to our process. The result is a tea with rich body, layered floral and fruit notes, and a smooth, lingering finish. Its aroma recalls honey peach and wild mulberry — subtle yet captivating.
The name Hongyanxiao (“Hongyanxiao” means “Beauty’s Smile” in Chinese, inspired by both the tea’s delicate aroma and a local love story.) is both a nod to the tea’s sweet mulberry fragrance and a tribute to a local tale of pure, youthful love. This tea was awarded a Gold Prize at the 2016 International Tea Union Conference.
Dry Leaves
Dark and glossy with tightly twisted strands and fine white fuzz.
The aroma is delicate and sweet, with hints of peach and mulberry from the high mountain air.
Liquor
Bright and clear, with a golden ring at the surface.
Aromas of ripe fruit and blossom rise gently, followed by a round, soft texture and a clean, sweet aftertaste that lingers on the tongue.
Infused Leaves
Neatly unfurled, fresh and full-bodied.
The leaves show even oxidation with subtle red edging — a mark of careful processing. The aroma remains long after steeping.
